Dental Implants

Anatomy of an Implant

As an artificial substitute for a natural tooth root, a dental implant is a small post shaped like a screw and placed in to the jawbone. After implant surgery, Dr. Ganjoor will attach a permanent crown on each implant. Dental implants are also used to secure ill-fitting dentures by functioning as an anchor for the appliance.

Placement and Restoration

Dr. Ganjoor will position one post in each empty socket or strategically place a few implants in the jawbone to secure a denture, partial, or bridge. During the next three to six months, osseointegration occurs and bone tissue fuses with the implant posts. We will then mount your replacement teeth on the posts, giving you back a complete smile.

Recipe for Success

Before placing implants, Dr. Ganjoor will evaluate your mouth and make sure you have enough bone structure for the posts. Generally, implants have a 95 to 98 percent success rate. You can protect your investment by practicing good home hygiene and scheduling routine checkups and cleanings.

FAQs

Am I a candidate for dental implants?
Ideally, you should have good oral health and sufficient jawbone density. Dr. Ganjoor will assess your entire mouth before planning treatment. Some candidates require periodontal therapy or bone grafting before implant placement.

Do I need to see a surgeon for implant placement?
No. Dr. Ganjoor has undergone advanced training at Angle Institute so that we can offer full-service implant dentistry in our Celina dentist office. She actually places and restores implants, which means that she will complete each step of the process in our modern, well-equipped facility with a team that you know and trust.

Can I still get dental implants if I have dentures?
Definitely! Often, denture wearers deal with slipping appliances, especially the lower one. Dr. Ganjoor will strategically place posts in the lower jaw and then add snaps to existing or new dentures. Simply secure the denture to the implants to enjoy a stable smile and restore the confidence you’ve been missing.
