Basic, Surgical, and Wisdom Tooth Extraction
Through regular preventive dental care and timely cosmetic and restorative treatment, our goal is to help you keep your natural smile whole and healthy for life. Unfortunately, there may come a time when the best option for saving the rest of your smile is to extract a severely damaged, infected, or troublesome tooth.
In many cases, tooth extraction may leave a gap in your smile, and Dr. Newton will discuss your tooth replacement options during your initial appointment. In cases of wisdom tooth impaction, the extracted molars will not need to be replaced, since removing them is necessary to avoid or correct overcrowding along your dental ridges.
What to Do After Tooth Extraction
With the exception of wisdom teeth, replacing your extracted tooth is the best way to restore your bite’s proper balance and prevent further issues from developing. In many cases, the best choice for replacing a tooth is a dental implant, which restores the lost root as well as the tooth’s crown.
If you qualify, Dr. Newton may be able to extract your troublesome tooth and replace it during the same visit with a same-day dental implant. After the tooth is removed, the implant can be placed immediately and then topped with a lifelike porcelain or zirconia dental crown.
